BSH beam (glued laminated timber – glulam)

A BSH (glued-laminated) beam is a structural timber component made from glued lamellae with parallel grain orientation. Its advantages include suitability for large spans, the potential for outstanding load-bearing capacity, and, due to its laminated construction, more predictable and stable behaviour.

Standardisation

The EN 14080 standard sets out requirements for glulam products (performance, manufacture, quality control). A common strength class in practice is, for example, GL24.

Applications

Roof structures, exposed floor beams, galleries, spanning large spaces, pergolas, and load-bearing elements in public buildings and sports facilities.
